“Thumbs up” for customer service at Vouch Or Grouch

Businesses are putting their customer service models to the test in order to gain service ranking on an innovative new website, Vouch or Grouch (www.vouchorgrouch.com.au).

Vouch Or Grouch is Australia’s first online business directory driven by members sharing their customer experience. The site allows consumers to give their feedback on what has occurred while dealing with a business – if it is positive the business gains a vouch rating while if it is negative it receives a grouch rating.

Vouch or Grouch creator Aaron Harwood said the site goes beyond a simple billboard and provides customers with meaningful information from other consumers.

“There are so many websites that are just directories that allow you to find businesses. The problem is that these sites don’t inform you of the quality of service the business delivers. Vouch or Grouch enables visitors to make informed choices by reading comments left by other consumers.”

Listing a business on Vouch or Grouch can be either driven by the actual business or by the consumer. Businesses may choose between a free or paid registration and with a paid listing the business receives specially designed point of sale cards to encourage customer’s feedback. Consumers alternatively are free to add any business they have dealt with.

“Allowing members to add a business to the directory empowers the consumer,” said Mr Harwood. “It’s a way we can build the resource without restriction. If a member wants to publish a comment about a business that is not on Vouch Or Grouch, the member can simply add it.”

Mr Harwood said the site was aimed at rewarding businesses with outstanding customer service and improving the communication between businesses and consumers when things go wrong.

“Customer service in any business has its ups and downs but only a small proportion of unhappy customers ever let the company know. Vouch Or Grouch gives consumers a forum to express their concerns and registered businesses get the opportunity to rectify the fault. At the end of the day businesses that offer consistent service and rectify faults quickly will be rewarded,” said Mr Harwood.
